Introduction to Pattern Drafting and Garment Making

Task 1 : Search 5 different clothing in your wardrobe, Identify the type of materials and describe the properties of the material.

1. Satin

- Satin fabric has a soft and shiny surface on one side, with a rough and duller surface on the other side. 

- It’s a breathable, cooling, and lightweight fabric.

2. Tweed 

- Tweed is a rough fabric made of wool. 

- It’s fabric breathability and strechability is low. 

- Typically used for jackets and winter clothing due to its thicker material. 

 3. Polyester 

- Polyester is typically more sturdy compared to cotton. They don’t stretch or tear very easily. 

- It’s easy to wash and wear. 

- It’s quite lightweight but does not absorb sweat well.

 4. Nylon 

- This material is very strong and resilient, It’s also lightweight, does not absorb water, and dries very quickly, which is why it’s commonly used for outdoor jackets.

5. Corduroy 

- Corduroy fabric is strong and durable.

- Despite not being a very stretchable, It’s still extremely soft and breathable.
