Final Project 1 - Semester 5

 

I chose this concept as a concluding chapter in my fashion design journey, aiming to depart significantly from my usual style and previous collections. Selecting Nana Osaki as my subject matter, her style starkly contrasts with mine, nevertheless, her narrative resonates with my own experience more profoundly than anticipated. 

Nana Osaki grew up in a challenging environment, facing difficulties and hardships from a young age, She had a complicated relationship with her family and, as a result, decided tp leave home at a young age to pursue her dream of becoming a rock musician. Nana is fiercely independent, strong-willed, and carries a punk-rock aesthetic. Throughout her journey, Nana grapples with personal and professional challenges including complex relationships, the pursuit of her musical aspirations, and the impact of her troubled past on her present life. 

Nana's character is known for her resillience, passion for music, and the emotional depth that unfolds as the story progresses. The narrative explores themes of love, friendship, identity, and the pursuit of one's dreams, drawing parallels to my own experience of leaving home, for university, a journey of self-discovery and navigating life independently. 

My collection draws inspiration from Nana's use of musical instruments, her distinctive style, and the influence of those around her. This venture provides an opportunity for me to experiment with novel fabrics and textures, using the boundaries of my creative exploration. 

In conclusion, my collection encapsulates not only the dynamic essence of Nana Osaki but also serves as a manifestation of my transformative journey, a fusion of contrasting styles and shared narratives, culminating in a unique and resonant expression of artistic exploration.
