Introduction to Fashion Design 

This week, Ms Maria taught us about the Process of Designing. Which includes making an Inspiration board and creating a mood board. First, Ms Maria told us to choose a theme and write 10 keywords to support our idea for the theme. 

My 10 keywords are : 

• Pastel Colours
• Texture
• Pattern
• Layers
• Water
• Nature
• Flowers
• Delicate
• Cottage
• Garden

We are then told to create a mood board based on the theme that we chose by finding Inspiration on Pinterest and creating the mood board on canva.

The theme that I chose is Delicate Garden. I wanted to create a soft and delicate design for my first collection. This collection is inspired by gardens and spring. I want to focus this collection on pastel colours, textures, and floral patterns.

Assignment 1 

Students are required to draw your own figure drawing for all 10 Design Illustrations. You shall have your own drawing signature developed from the “9-Head Figure Drawing”.

These are my first sketches for my collection, I ended up changing most of the designs in the end because some of them looks too similar to one another.

 I’m going for a simple and feminine approach. This collection is heavily inspired by gardens, hence why I chose pastel colours and floral designs. 

This is actually my first time designing a collection. I’ve never had any experience in using watercolour, which was very interesting to try. I definitely had trials and errors but eventually I got the hang of it. I will definitely practice more, as time goes by, I hope I will be more comfortable and confident in designing a collection.
